Okay so I am in love with the micro bag!  Sure you can't fit much inside, but they are so small and cute and it seems that every website has now added mini bag to there menu of products.  The micro bag can really be worn with anything, so stock up on multiples in different colors, I know I would if I could.

2 in 1 Designer Spotlight - Louis Vuitton & Dior

In recent years it has seemed to become a thing for major high-end designers to show their cruise collections in a big way, showcasing the collection in a non fashion city.  The cruise collection comes in-between AW and SS and most people don't notice it, or don't even notice that the shop floor does through a transition midway through the season.  In the last week 2 of the biggest design houses, Vuitton and Dior have hosted big events to showcase their cruise collections.

First, Louis Vuitton chose Rio de Janeiro to put on their show, taking over the Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum, there is a video of the entire show here.  It's pretty spectacular and definitely worth watching for a few minutes.  They constructed a runway where everyone has a front row seat, which has also become popular, with the city of Rio in the background and the water, and Sugar Loaf Mountain, it's quite spectacular. There was definitely a rocker vibe going on with the collection and a bit of military.

Accessories were also a big deal as they always are at Vuitton.  These were a few of my favourites.

And next, Dior!  

Okay so Dior is always a believer in go big or go home, they throw extravagant shows and their cruise 17 show was no exception.  They chose Blenheim Palace, located in Oxfordshire, England.  You can watch the whole show here.  Because the show was outside of London, guests were picked up in Dior themed taxis and then arrived by train, the Dior Express, a train themed entirely in Dior.  Guests were greeted by very handsome men dressed as train conductors.  The show looked great, a bit of a 1930s vibe with great floral patterns.  A lot of rooching and silk ribbons, both functional and non functional, used as accessories and as detail on the clothing.

Trend Tuesday - The Sweatshirt

When I was younger all I wanted was an I.O.U. sweatshirt.  It was at the top of my Christmas list one year and I remember going shopping with my mom to find the perfect one in the perfect colour.  Logo sweatshirts and probably sweatshirts in general have been on a hiatus until recently.  But sweatshirts have made a come back, both logo and embellished, and the sweatshirt is proving to be a staple in any wardrobe for any occasion, working for all seasons as a great layering piece.

Sundays at the Seashore

Designer Spotlight - Missoni

London always has something going on, it's one of my favourite things about living in the city, having access to everything.  And almost always there is something fashion oriented going on.  Today I went to the Fashion and Textile Museum to have a look at the Missoni exhibition that is running till September.  
Missoni is known for their knitwear.  The average person may not know the name of the brand, but they would probably recognize their colorful knits.  Missoni had a sellout collection at Target a few years ago. What I had no idea going into the exhibition was that the original designers were heavily influenced by art.  The exhibition, which was actually quite small, was very focused on the art that both influenced the creation of Missoni as well as art that was created by the designers.  The influential art was avant-garde and the designers sought to add another dimension to the art by using the inspiration of the art, patterns, and colors and adding material, form, and movement.  In turn creating beautifully colored knit fabrics and turning them into amazing clothes.
